“About Me and My Processes ”
My love for art started at a young age, I was always drawing on the walls at home and at one point I even decided to paint the carpet green. As I got older my skills improved, I went to college and university and studied fine art.
In the summer of my second year of university I went down to Isle of Portland, just off the coast of Weymouth and spent three months at the tout quarry carving. This was the first time I had carved and straight away I fell in love with stone and the beauty that the stone possesses within. Even though stone carving is such a brutal process the final results are beautiful and can provoke so many different thoughts and feelings, which are unique and so different to mediums used in art.
I mostly work with hand carving tools as I enjoy the more natural and physical process, for example mallets and chisels and so far I have used Alabaster Soap Stone and Maltese Limestone for my art. I source my stone from southern stone, who in-turn source their stone from all over the globe, Italy, Spain, India, etc and many more.
